Lazy June Days

Hi Everyone,

It's sure been H~O~T here.  For the past couple mornings, around 6:00 a.m. we awake to a 2-3 minute downpour and then sunshine and H~E~A~T the rest of the day.  Not enough water to give the plants a good drink. So, we water, and water, and water.  Already my plants could use a good pruning and some have already had that done. They are almost top heavy!!  But I take pride in the colors of the garden that is in the front of the house and also pride in the garden in the back which receives morning sun and shade the rest of the day.  I've taken a few photos of the back garden that has my ferns, gardenias, and hydrangeas.  I've added a few annuals to give the garden some pops of color.

Hydrangeas, and my Jasmine that I just transplanted and tied to the white trellis

My Asparagus and Boston Ferns

Another shot from the opposite end of the garden

I am truly amazed that the ferns even grew back because of the two freezes we had this winter but they surprised me with their hardiness.  Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me!

I did manage to make a batch of dark chocolate Brownies for Husband today to celebrate Fathers Day.  I hope all the dads out there were remembered and had a special day with their children!

  1. Your garden looks lovely! My big Hydrangea is doing okay, not flowering but growing leaves like crazy. My small one seems to have bitten the dust though. The flowers died so I removed them then all the leaves turned brown and died. I'm not sure if I should just cut it back all the way and see if it comes back eventually.

It's hot as heck here too! Honestly, we stay indoors as much as we can and take a walk once in a while if Kyran makes it home before the thunderstorms hit:)

Have a great day Kris and stay cool!!!

  3. Kris,
Dark chocolate brownies, oh my! I just made a batch of chocolate chewy brownies myself. Your Boston ferns are so pretty, and your Hydrangeas are such a pretty color. It's been pretty hot here too, but cooler in the mornings and evenings. It sounds like you are enjoying the June days, Kris.

    love,

  4. Kris, how are you?. I hope you are doing well.
This year mother nature did not cease to amaze me, too. Our roses are in bloom richly like never before. I am so happy to see them and never get tired gazing into this unbelievable lush bush. And their fragrance smell absolutely amazing. I love it as well as a dark chocolate brownies! It is already a long ago where I made brownies. So, I think it is time for me to make chocolate brownies again. Maybe tomorrow ;-)
Have a great time, Kris. And thank you so much for your always lovely comments. I appreciate it!
