I have been busy trying to re-teach myself how to knit again. It's been years since I've done any knitting and always found it therapeutic. Thank God there is You Tube out there to refresh my memory on how to cast on and off and the basic knit and purl stitches. It is amazing how quickly it all come back to you.
These are the colors I'm trying to incorporate into an afghan |
So, for the time being, I will be content to knit away in hopes of finishing this sometime in the future and when I say future I mean future! HA
I've also just made a nice little boudoir pillow for my bed in a lovely pale blue linen. I love the color blue...my favorite color.
Pay no attention to the bed pillows without their cases on...I just changed our bed sheets and hadn't put the pillow cases on them when I took this photo. HA
Anyway, this is what I've been up to for the past few days. How about you? What have you been doing?
For those of you in the North, I hope you are covered up with a nice throw drinking something warm. I'm even doing that here and I'm sure it's not near as cold as where some of you live. :)
Hopefully some day I will slow down from the madness of design and be able to curl up by the fire and do something like this...Have fun, and I can't wait to see your project finished. XO, Mona
ReplyDeleteI gave up knitting after several attempts. I can never get the tension right, it was all over the place. Love the colours you have chosen. Yes it is cold here too, went out to put the dustbin out to be emptied, I couldn't get back in quick enough, Brrrrrrr.
ReplyDeleteDear Kristie, hope all is well with you. Here it is cool but even cooler is a little higher up in Sweden where my husband is working right now it's minus 26 degrees. So glad you brought up an old hobby, knitting is fun, made it very long time ago. Many hugs to you / Ingela.
ReplyDeleteI applaud you! I just can't knit, full stop! I get in a total mess, have uneven stitches, get sweaty hands, knotty wool and lose stitches off the end of my needles. I learnt when I was young, tried again a few years ago and vowed never, ever again!
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty colours you are using.
I had to scrape ice off my car windscreen in the dark this morning and we had a sprinkling of snow!

what I like most about this posting is that you take a picture before putting your pillow cases on the pillows instead of the other way around ! I think that is totally special !!
ReplyDeleteJust a quick visit to wish you and your dear family "Bonne année et bonne santé pour 2013".

I have fond memories of my grandma knitting things, I even still have a little doll sweater she made when I was about 6. I think I attempted it a million years ago and gave up. It does look relaxing though, once you get the hang of it!
ReplyDeleteIt's very warm here and I'm hoping for a cool down so we can turn the a/c off. Your little pillow is lovely! That's what I'm attempting to do today, I'm sewing a little pillow by hand because I don't have a sewing machine so we'll see how it goes!
Kris,
ReplyDeleteLike you, I learned to knit many years ago, but have no idea how to anymore. I think it is great that you trying to learn again, and I can't wait to see the afghan you make. My sister knits, crochets, sews, and does quilts. She is so talented. Me....I will stick to Photography and gardening and decorating. Those are the things I love. Your bedspread is so pretty. I love the color blue too.

What a coincidence! I spent four days with some of my sisters (4 out of 5) and Cherie gave me a little project: knitting a cowl and following the instructions
ReplyDeleteShe helped me get started and reminded my fingers the rhythm of knit-pearl. I am a bit rusty but excited to knit again. I guess then I will test my memory on tatting and lace crochet - hah!

I´m not good at knitting, only chrochet - so I´m naturally very impressed by you! :-)
