Daughter's Visit

Our daughter, son-in-law and 2 of our grandchildren left a couple of days ago after a week long visit with us.  We had a great time except that Gemma, Asher and daughter caught colds.  Here are a few pics of the week long visit:

Gemma (3 years old)

Asher (1 year old)  Here he is hugging the Aero Bed...he loved "hugging" it.
Enjoying the beach.
A seagull perched atop some logs in St. Andrews Bay
Daughter "goofing off" at The Hog's Breath restaurant in Destin, FL
Asher and Papa on a train ride at Panama City Pier
Gemma wanted Mamaw to paint her toenails...she picked out the color to match her mom's and my toes.
A boat docked at St. Andrew's Bay with a pirate on board.
A momma lizard with her arm around her baby.  The baby was turned facing downward on the fence post and she traveled down the fence post and turned the baby around facing up...she is really hanging onto her baby.
I needed this....
Son-in-law acting silly with a visor on in Ron Jon Surf Shop.
Papaw and Gemma coming up from the beach

We had a great visit!  Now its time for a rest.  Sigh...

How Old Is This Tree Anyway

The house next door to us has a very interesting and old tree that towers over their house.  I wonder how old it is?  I really wouldn't want it hanging over my house...just think of the damage this could do.  But...it's really an interesting looking tree and must be very, very old to look so gnarled and to have grown in this way.  What do you think?

Huge!

A photo I never get tired of looking at!  Wishing all of you a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Stormy Weather Ahead

For the next several days we will be experiencing MORE rain here!!  Here are a few pics of the cloud cover this evening when the storms are supposed to come in.

My favorite

I saw this pretty butterfly on a wall and snapped a pic of it.  I'd never seen one like it before...have you?

I leave you with the song and lyrics of Gypsy sung by one of my all time favorite singers Stevie Nicks when she was with Fleetwood Mac.  :-)

The lyrics are about a time when she lived in San Francisco and slept on the floor on a mattress.  The Velvet Underground was a clothing store there.  She was pretty much a gypsy during the time she spent there.

Ferns

Because of the great humidity here ferns seem to grow wonderfully.  So, I decided to try my hand at a fern garden.  Because I know virtually nothing about them except that they love humidity and shade I did some research and found the perfect place for them...right next to our patio where we only receive morning sun and the rest of the day is shady.  I was fortunate to have the larger frond ferns given to me to transplant by my neighbor who has tons of them growing everywhere.  I purchased the asparagus ferns and four gardenias to place around the larger frond ferns then layered around them with straw pine needles for the acidity.  They are doing great.

Another view of the garden
And here is Fred, my pelican wind chime who I simply adore and who makes the prettiest sound when of course the wind blows!

Some other plants my neighbor gave me to transplant.

A gift from my neighbor.

Here are also a few more pics of things I have going on in the house which I am still working on...a never ending decorating job.

Here is my blue oar that is distressed and has my favorite number, 5 and a beach sign pointing right to the door and out to the beach! LOL

My french Cannes giclee print that I've had for several years.

My marble top table with my french lamp and burlap shade.

That's it for today, I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

Fence Critters

Here is another lizard running across the top of the fence.  Does anyone know what the orange and yellow thingy (for lack of a better word for it) is on this lizard?  We see them opening their mouths and then this "thingy" appears?

Lizard
Here are also a few pics of my new design style:

I just had this pillow cover made

We just finished painting this accent wall in a watery blue color.

My newest and most favorite rug!  Notice the red and white vintage buoy?

I made this.  I love the salt life sticker at the bottom.  It pretty much describes life around here.  A salt smell in the air and sand always in between my toes!  This is really a brand of clothing line but also represents a way of life here.

New beachy colors!

Just a few peek's of what I'm attempting to incorporate.  Stay tuned for a new table redo!

Ship sighting in St. Andrew's Bay Saturday, August 2nd, 2013

Today we went to the Farmer's Market in St. Andrew's Bay like we usually do on Saturday mornings and we saw this huge freighter docked over in the deep water side of the bay so we took some pictures and then went on-line to see what info we could get about the ship. The vessel was named the Bravante V. It apparently was launched (and built) here in Panama City, the following is copied from the on-line posting we found:

"Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. christened and launched the M/V Bravante V for Boldini S.A. of Brazil. The event was held on March 21, 2013 at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility with hundreds of Eastern employees and guests.

Attending were Renato and Regina Nascimento, William Wueman and William Grutter along with several members that traveled from Brazil witnessing the launch of the first of five Platform Supply Vessels under contract with Eastern.

Mr. Nacimento’s wife Regina had the honor of christening the vessel. Eastern’s President, Brian D’Isernia said a few words about the bright future of Shipbuilding hear in the United States, providing more local jobs and the Offshore Marine Industry prior to the launch. Father Roy Marien of Saint John’s Catholic Church located in Panama City, Florida performed the blessing of the vessel."

This is the video we found on YouTube showing the launch of the freighter:

And here are some pictures we took today of the vessel up close at the dock:

Another beautiful day at the Bay!
